About PokeGuesser.net

The story, mission, and people behind your favourite free Pokémon platform.

🚀 Our Story

PokeGuesser.net was founded in 2024 by a small group of lifelong Pokémon fans who noticed a gap in the online Pokémon community: most existing tools were either slow, ad-cluttered, outdated, or locked behind paywalls. We wanted something better — a fast, beautiful, and truly free resource for every Trainer on the internet.

What started as a personal side-project turned into a full platform. We began with a simple Pokédex to look up stats quickly, then added the Pokémon Guesser game after being inspired by the viral success of daily word games. The Card Guesser followed, adding a new dimension of visual challenge. Each feature was built with care, focusing on a clean design and smooth user experience.

Today, PokeGuesser.net serves thousands of Pokémon fans every month, from competitive players researching type matchups for their Scarlet/Violet teams, to casual players reliving their nostalgia for Gen 1 by naming all 151 original Pokémon from memory.

💎 What We Offer

PokeGuesser.net is more than just a Pokédex. We've built a suite of interconnected tools designed to delight Pokémon fans of all ages and skill levels:

📖

Interactive Pokédex

Browse all 1,025 Pokémon across 9 generations. Filter by type, generation, and name. View detailed stat breakdowns, type matchups, abilities, and evolution chains — all in one place, lightning fast.

🎯

Pokémon Guesser

Our signature game inspired by Wordle. Guess a mystery Pokémon based on color-coded hints for type, generation, evolution stage, height, weight, and color. Play solo or challenge friends locally or online.

🃏

Card Guesser

A visual challenge: identify a Pokémon from its blurred card art. Each wrong guess reveals a little more detail. Perfect for testing your visual Pokémon recognition skills!

📚

Pokémon Guides

In-depth articles covering Pokémon types, competitive strategies, and game mechanics. Our complete Type Guide covers all 18 types with strengths, weaknesses, and the best Pokémon for each.

🛠️ How It Works — Our Technology

PokeGuesser.net is built entirely with modern web standards: HTML5, CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript. We intentionally avoided heavy frameworks to ensure the fastest possible load times — we believe a great user experience starts with speed.

All Pokémon data is sourced from PokéAPI, a free and open-source RESTful API that is the gold standard for Pokémon game data. PokéAPI aggregates data from all mainline Pokémon games, covering stats, abilities, moves, evolution chains, and more. We use this data responsibly and in compliance with their terms of service.

Our multiplayer features for the Pokémon Guesser and Card Guesser are powered by Firebase Realtime Database, enabling real-time game synchronization between players around the world. Game sessions are temporary and no personal data is stored beyond the duration of the game.

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting with global CDN delivery, ensuring fast load times whether you're playing from Paris, Tokyo, New York, or anywhere else on Earth.
